Always-on and hibernation

Every Wumpo server can either stay on around the clock, or hibernate when nobody is playing. You choose which, and the choice affects your Wumpo Points.

The World settings panel, where the always-on toggle lives

The two modes

  • Always-on. Your server stays running 24/7, so anyone can jump in at any moment with no wait. Best for active groups who play often and at unpredictable times.
  • Hibernation (idle auto-shutdown). When the server is stopped and idle, it hibernates instead of running. It uses no resources while off, and it earns Wumpo Points for every whole hour it stays hibernating.

You can switch between the two at any time from the server's settings.

Which should I choose

  • If your squad plays most days, or at all hours, always-on keeps it instant and hassle-free.
  • If you play in bursts, say a few evenings a week, hibernation means the server rests in between and you build up points while it does.

Waking a hibernating server

Start the server from the Overview panel and it comes back online in moments, right where you left it. Your world, settings and backups are all exactly as they were.

How this affects points

Points accrue only while a server is hibernating, so an always-on server does not earn them. The earn rate depends on your plan. See How points work for the rates and the full explanation.
